For years I put my faith in a popular speaker who claims to believe in God. It wasn’t God I was following.
Only God knows this man’s heart, but this man’s actions appear to serve his bank account rather than the Lord. His words are beautiful to hear, but his actions stink of greed.
I won’t judge this man for only God can do that, but I won’t listen to him anymore. The more I listened to him, the more he seemed to contradict Christ’s teachings. The inner peace he is selling is a worldly kind, not a spiritual one.
Jesus warns, “Beware of false teachers who come disguised as harmless sheep, but are wolves and will tear you apart. You can detect them by the way they act, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit. (Matthew 7:15-16)
Jesus continues, “Not all who sound religious are really godly people. They may refer to me as ‘Lord’, but still won’t get to heaven. For the decisive question is whether they obey my Father in heaven.” (Matthew 7:21)
I pray that God will allow me to distinguish between false teachers and good ones — and protect me from being misled. I also pray that God will provide me with the knowledge and mercy I need to obey Him. Amen
