It’s easy to become distracted. Sometimes it seems like the more we confront our fears and open up to the world, the more we become aware of the spiritual war around us. This can be especially true for new believers or “young Christians.” But do not lose heart or become afraid.

We need not be afraid or worry, because God is with us. If we have faith in God and trust in Jesus, He will give us inner peace and protect us.

Because the Lord is my Shepherd, I have everything I need! He lets me rest in the meadow grass and leads me beside the quiet streams. He gives me new strength. He helps me do what honors Him most. Even when walking through the dark valley of death I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me, guarding, guiding all the way. You provide delicious food for me in the presence of my enemies. You have welcomed me as your guest; blessings overflow! Your goodness and unfailing kindness shall be with me all of my life, and afterwards I will live with you forever in your home.” Psalm 23:1-6

The inner peace that is ours when we follow Jesus is a gift from God, even when worldly peace evades us. Inner peace is sustainable through God’s mercy when we believe and nurture our relationship with Him. We are taught by Christ to nurture our relationship with God through prayer, worship, obedience, and God willing, the support of other true believers.

In these difficult times, trust in God, Christ and the Holy Spirit and keep God in your hearts and thoughts. Reflect Christ in your actions.

And know with certainty that because of God’s love and mercy, the spiritual war that continues among us cannot harm us.
